I had a really negative reaction to how this story was framed. Hannah is a lawyer, a defense attorney. For her birthday, her best friend buys her a session with a BDSM trainer. She doesn't, like, give her a gift certificate that she can redeem when and if she feels comfortable. No, she tells her to drive somewhere to pick up her gift and when she gets there, it’s all sprung on her. See, her friend found her stash of BDSM literature and decided that Hannah needed to explore this side of herself. But what if she was already exploring it and just hadn’t told her friend? Or maybe it was just a fantasy and she didn’t want more? Or maybe she wants to be the dominant one? Yikes. ANYWAY, when she arrives at the location, the man greeting her is someone she already knows, a local prosecutor that she has worked with frequently. She decides to go ahead with it. But other than a brief discussion about safe words, Mike spends no time figuring out what Hannah likes, what she doesn’t like, and what she wants to explore. Yep, it’s one of those stories . . . a magical Dom who is able to intuit what she wants without her having to say a word. They have their session and at the end we find out that Mike isn’t even the trainer! The real trainer couldn’t make it and Mike was just supposed to be there to let her know so she could reschedule. But when he saw her, he couldn’t resist, so he deceived her so he could get with her. YIKES again.Product details

"Secret Desires of the Counselor" was a super fast, steamy, page turner. I loved Ryan! I hope he makes an appearance in a full length novel by Ms. Scott. I love J.S. Scott's writing style. Every once and awhile you just need a quick mindless in between book. Her books are perfect for those moments.
Cindy delivered the best birthday gift ever. Helping fulfill Hannah secret fantasy that was tucked away in her closet. What she didn't count on was Ryan being the giver of that fantasy under false pretenses that pleased both her best friend and Ryan. I guess doing a favor for a friend does pay off or get you off.
I love Scott's books. She's one of the few authors who can tell a complete tale in under 50 pages, sometimes under 25. A story of a woman who has to be strong in her job & wants a place to just be able to let go in the bedroom.... and the man who knows he can deliver. If you enjoy a short hot sweet treat, this is a great story.
This was a very erotic power play book. The man has the power over her and she doesn't want to submit but secretly she does. It is her ultimate fantasy for him to control her but she resists to make it erotic. It is a wonderful book for the mind game of the man giving her the pleasure she wants and her giving into his demands. After all the goal is for each of them to reach the ultimate orgasm! Great read!
Defense attorney Hannah is gifted BDSM lessons. Prosecutor Ryan is her substitute Dom. Leather strikes, attraction sparks, etc. Totally worth a look if you're in the market for a fun, sexy quickie.
This was a great short story. I didn't want it to end and wished it was a much longer story. I would l d read this again and I have read others stories from this author. She is one of my favorites too.
Overview. Hannah was told to go pick up her birthday present. When she knocks on the door, a person she knows well answers. Both shocked at who was at the door. Ryan and Hannah are always opposing councils in court. Now she is given the gift of a life time and Ryan decides he will be giving it to her.
It was a pleasure to read this short story. It's like an extended scene in a novel. You get some sense of who the characters are; just enough to heighten the story. Very well done. If you read this to get an idea of the author's storytelling, you'll want to buy a novel next. I'm intrigued and ready to read the series this short story is a part of.
